IBM can't make money in PC's trying to be all things to all people ! A 599 IBM PC..people will wonder what's wrong with it !

Xerox has come and gone from many businesses and only seem to make money in high end duplication. Likewise, IBM is culturally inclined to only make money in mid to high end systems. Xerox (PARC) invented the mouse, ethernet, the Star workstation with Icon based GUI and many more leading edge technologies, but didn't know how to successfully market them. Likewise IBM with the PC.

<<IBM says they are soon to release a $599.00 computer with 300mhz 3.2 gb drive!>>

I already saw some mail-order computers priced at $699.99, with 300mhz K-6-2 chip and 6.4 GB drive. Monitor not included, of course. So what is the big deal about it?
