I'm being a good citizen; my intention is to make sure the federal budget is in surplus this year, by piling up short-term capital gains. My wife's salary alone puts us in the 40% bracket; one of us needs to quit working and focus on growing bonzias and raising kids; we're negotiating this presently.

In the past, I've held onto stocks, because I wanted to get past January 1 or 12 months holding period, and ended up paying fewer taxes because I had fewer cap gains, :(
