AMD K6/2-400 on Pricewatch. That puts AMD one speed grade behind Intel. That's about 3-4 months behind in process technology, and quickly closing. This is pretty consistent with the data we're getting from both companies about the .18u transition.

Luckily the K7 is at least a year ahead of any Intel design that's out there (or will be out there). Next summer could be an interesting one indeed.

Hutch - Re: "K6-2 350''''''''''''''60% of PII-350 ($135 vs $223)"

The 350 MHz K6-2 price was $139 two days ago.

Does this $4 drop imply that AMD's yields have improved during the past two days?

How does the CPU vendor get this information so fast ?

Paul

Brian,

It looks like the resellers are expecting to get the 400s about two weeks after the 380s, but well in time for Christmas.
