Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette on Friday said analyst Robert Maire raised his view on shares of DuPont Photomosks Inc. to buy from market perform.

In a research note, Maire said:

On Thursday, the company said its first fiscal quarter net income was $0.21 a share, matching Wall Street expectations, compared with $0.59 a share in the year-earlier period.

-- he set a 12-month price target of $50 a share.

-- he raised his outlook on fiscal year 1999 earnings to $1.02 a share from $1.00, and projected fiscal year 2000 earnings at $1.65 a share.

-- despite a strong U.S. dollar and weakness in Korean currency, business in Korea remained strong.

-- ''we feel high end photomasks can offset (weak pricing) in the long run and weak low end pricing will hurt competitors more than DPMI.''
