Ballard Power Systems
Carlton Lutts (10/22)

Talk about cheaper hydrogen fuel cells isn't a lot of hot air. According to growth stock investor Carlton Lutts of The Cabot Market Letter, technology improvements will lower the cost of fuel cells by 90% over the next few years.

One company airing out those technology enhancements, says Lutts, is Ballard Power Systems (BLDPF:Nasdaq). "We have never seen a product that has greater potential or larger world mass markets," says Lutts. Ballard, which saw its stock price drop from 43 last April to 22 in late October, is rebounding with a new manufacturing plant that broke ground in September. The company is relying on technology partners like Daimler-Benz (DAI:NYSE ADR), Nissan (NSANY:Nasdaq ADR) and Volvo (VOLVY:Nasdaq ADR) to pitch in on the new fuel initiative.

Lutts says Ballard may not be a buy just yet, but will be a real gas when the market picture brightens. He has the stock on his watch list for when the market outlook brightens.
