Larry;

<<RE--IBM says PC era over. Sounds like sour grapes. >>

Most of the wags now agree that there is a fundamental shift underway but to call an end to the PC era is a bit premature in my judgement as well. Fact is, even Gerstner's view of the future still includes a lot of PCs. I don't think anyone in Corporate computing imagines going back to the "dumb terminal" days. There are still lots of processing that is better distributed then centrally executed. And Yogi's story about installing Aptivas with IBM's ISP as the default page is perhaps telling. One analogy is the cell phone biz. They virtually give away those phones in the states, in order to collect on subscriber services right? Can PC's or other portals be far behind?

By the way, I agree 100% when Yogi said "IBM has come a long way under Gerstner. Oh...and Larry, Your postings, research, and opinions have always been informative, well presented, and invaluable to me personaly. <g>

Best,
Stitch
