ice, fa does matter. it is easier to manipulate numbers than to run a good business in a competitive environment. remember how good gtw's eps were 2-3 years ago? they were only that good b/c they were hiding expenses so that they could write it down all at once. if they didn't have the massive writedown then eps would have been lower. much lower.

the bulls want to see what the bulls want to see. not many people can stand outside the box. b/c i take a strong position people think the same of me. i've liked the risk/reward of some companies and then changed my mind (admitted error) based on new information.

nfli was one such stock. digl was another. i thought it was overvalued and they reported blockbuster earnings. i admitted i was startled by their success, said i was wrong they wouldn't hit their numbers and congratulated the bulls. well, 2 or 3 months later they restated the marvelous earnings to a loss. then i admitted i was right to begin with.

gtw now has something to build on. i'm not convinced they can sustain it. i'm also not convinced it is real as they may be saving lots of costs for a scheduled writedown later.
