That difference is normal and is based on the uncertainty about whether the merger will occur. (Yes, that means failure of the merger is being handicapped as a downside risk for HBOC, the market's reaction to the merger notwithstanding. Those considering suing to stop the merger take note!)

The point is, there's nothing "quick" about the price difference between HBOC and the MCK equivalent. Only time and increased likelihood of approval will erode that difference, and only closing of the merger will eliminate it.
