BB, no there is no rule, but it seems like a BK is much more likely during this Carolan Lunar Month thing.

I guess we can still make history. And there have been past declines that have not been BK's but have been very severe around the month of October...

Plus, it looks like coming up Monday is supposed to be a significant trend change date called by Princeton Economics, guess well have to see...

This is the Bear market rally which puts the stake in the Bull's Coffin:

Hopes are high. The bear is sucking in more cash. When the rally fails to generate new highs, disappointment and frustration resurface. We then retreat and break to new lows. The Bear Market now becomes official. 19.6% in 45 days was fairly quick. It was to easy. Let's lull everyone to sleep under the pretense of a resumption of the Bull Market. Then a Bear Raid catches everyone by surprise. What is the catalyst? Another hedge fund failure? No third quarter growth? Downward Earnings revisions on the S&P for 99? More Deflationary Shock Waves in Japan? Don't fight the Fed? But can the Fed fight the global deflationary spiral by itself and win? The Answer is a resounding NO!

Are my calculations wrong or isn't the SPX sitting right on 200dma after overshooting slightly?

If theya re wrong so are Yahoo's.

This is one reason I see a further rally. Likely all the way to 1180 or whatever. I give DELL 8-9 days to peak for example and then crash. On the other hand this could just be 1990 all over again and the rate of increase slows down from here.
