As a result of the Asian Crisis, you have to believe Asians are asking themselves..what is the U.S. doing that we are not? The most glaring difference is that Asia is manufacturing based and the US is service based.

If you want to feel "warm and fuzzy" about U.S.'s future, read this article...http://www.foreignaffairs.org/issues/9805/zuckerman.html

"Service and Support" is going to become increasingly important to the semiconductor world as time goes on as well. I'm not sure the Asians "get it".

Look at all the DRAM manufacturers that all of a sudden want to be foundry suppliers. Next year, if the DRAM starts to take off, the foundry guys will want to be DRAM manufacturers. All of this to turn a quick profit and not to follow true industry trends towards better service and support.

Oh well, time will tell...
