Bill,

Unfortunately, it wasn't much fun for me because I was a Claires Shareholder. (The active word is 'WAS')

However, as one who has a decent understanding of FA and TA, but has been on the fence on the TA vs.FA arguments, I found this to be a memorable example of why TA is so important.

The Claires stock had been holding its own or rising for the two weeks after they announced they were 'comfortable' with earnings. Then some ten days after the announcement the stock began to tank on big volume. Two days after that they made the announcement that they would miss estimates by 15 %. As further proof that the charts were saying someone knew something, the stock closed even or up a bit the day OF the announcement they would miss. Hmmm.

So download the charts, the news, and stick it in a file for future reference the next time someone says TA is useless.

B.

P.S. Needless to say, I will be taking my Kahunite friend's analysis (and a bit of my own) MUCH more seriously in the future (not that I didn't already). :-)

RE: Brad,

Yeah... we ARE that busy.... but we always have time for a little fun!

That FA stuff just washes over me...

Bill

PS It probably was just a miss=placed decimal point or something. Like in the IQ of upper management???
