Big Pharma Report: October 24, 1998 Have PFun! BigKNY3 _________________________________________ Big Pharma Review - Big Pharma (+2.1%) continues to outpace the Dow (+0.4%). 11 of the "Healthy 13" showed gains with only MRK (-4.0%) and PNU (-1.7%) showing declines. Two Pharmas recorded all-time highs; quiet and steady ABT and suddenly upbeat JNJ. -This month's correcting Pharma SBH (+6.8%) continued to pace the sector for the week followed by PFE (+5.1%). Although this was a news-less week, PFE continues to benefit from analysts' support of their "confusing" 3Q EPS Report. -YTD, Big Pharma (+32.1%) is once again over the 30 level and clearly outpacing all major general markets. - In the YTD race, strong earnings reports helped the leaders, WLA remains #1 with an impressive 84% gain, followed by SGP (+62%.
