Personally, I think a liason between CIEN & LU is ludicrous because of the following facts/opinions:

1. Timing of phone call 45 min b4 shareholders meeting to vote on TLAB/CIEN merger...to CIEN from AT&T stating T would not complete testing on 40-channel product in order to wait for LU's 80-channel vaporware (still) due out end of this year....and CIEN already shipping 80-channel unit at that point in time to other customers.

2. Even tho spun off, lotso relationships betw LU & AT&T, even occupying same buildings still housing R&D folks of BOTH companies (might suspicious).

3. LU's recent denial of suspicious email received by TLAB just before merger vote & forwarded to their legal dept...appeared to be from LU, but LU did INTERNAL study and determined not theirs (LOL).

4. CIEN & LU are competitors in optical networking arena.

5. LU and AT&T both would look foolish in any attempt to establish relationship with CIEN at this point (unless a hostile takeover??).

6. LU would be seen as weak, technologically speaking, if buying CIEN.....would be admitting they STILL can't get their act together on their 80-channel unit....and CIEN working on 96.

That's probably enuf for now....LOL

Go CIEN.....KICK BUTT!!!!!!!!!!
