Hurricane Mitch Advisory Number 12 Statement as of 5:00 pm EDT on October 24, 1998 - - - - - - - - ...Mitch becoming a potentially dangerous hurricane... at 5 pm EDT...2100z...the government of Jamaica has issued a hurricane warning for Jamaica and the government of Cuba has issued a hurricane watch for Eastern Cuba from camaguey to guantanamo. A gradual turn to the northwest is expected on Sunday. On this track... rainbands associated with the hurricane should begin to affect Jamaica during the next several hours. Maximum sustained winds have increased to 105 mph, with higher gusts....
