Monday's IBD has an article, page A4, with the headline "It Could Have Been DaimlerFord, Officials Say". The article discusses the benefits that would have resulted from such a merger, one of the most important would result from a common interest in developing the next generation power plant. Ballard Power Systems is specifically mentioned as a member of the joint venture in the pursuit of fuel cell technology.

Hey you know you could be right. But they still need to break through some hefty cost and infrastructure barriers.

Don't get me wrong I'm cheering for Ballard to make it, and I think they will. There product will come first in developed countries, and I believe that cheaper partial solutions like NGV's will come sooner to developing countries.

My money is with NGV development for now.
