DS used to be a fine stock, sonki. I traded it during the last major semi rally and will check the charts later.

Found a closed-end smallcap fund, symbol mgc, but can't find much info on it. Anyone know about it? Here's the most recent news Yahoo shows on them: biz.yahoo.com Morgan Grenfell SMALLCap Fund, Inc. Announces Capital Gain Dividend NEW YORK, Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- On August 11, 1998 the Morgan Grenfell SMALLCap Fund, Inc. (the ''Fund'') (NYSE: MGC - news) announced a distribution from net realized capital gains of $0.21 per share, comprised of long-term capital gains. This distribution is taxable as a capital gain dividend. The Fund has set a record date of August 17, 1998, with a payment date of September 21, 1998. The Fund's shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol ''MGC.'' Currently, there are 9,793,568 shares outstanding.

Sonki, <<I need to offset smallcaps w. my SPY. >> I am also using SPY. Possibly in a different way than you though. I have begun shorting SPY as a hedge for my mostly small and mid cap portfolio. Didn't work too well last year but has been working fine lately. I am anticipating further run up in the small caps to about the 200dma on the RUT. This may take the other indices above their 200dma's but I am shorting SPY every couple of points on up to near this summer's top, where I will bail on my longs and keep my shorts. If the market drops sooner I have a cushion with my short SPY's.
