Another thing I just noticed on the Nikkei top in 1989, there was also a rising wedge there before a further big drop. We have a rising wedge now soooo.....

And interesting to note that Greenspans timing of his second rate cut was within the end portion of our rising wedge which is consistent with the formation (ie. last gasp rally near the end).

Apparently Greenspan only want to make these surprise cuts during a rising or uptrending market because he doesn't want to be viewed as "propping up the market".

So I wonder if he would make a cut during the next severe downdraft? hmmm.
