Luke- Your 1st comment on Friday, "I hear that salesman are not going to reach their quota"..simply does not pass the smell test.. This is the (almost) exactly the same terminology that was used on a CNBC report by M. Bartiromo earlier in the week..(I find it ironic that, in your follow-up post, you tried to lay the case, in Clintonesque manner, that you first heard about it on Monday....which would put your connection "conveniently" 24-48 hours ahead of the report I mentioned......Also, I find it hard to believe (if you had heard such a thing) that you would wait until last night to tell us......) In your first post, you stated that sales reps were going to have trouble reaching their quota THIS QUARTER.....Seeing the indefensibility of that position, you are now changing it to the 4th quarter...but, problem is, you were (supposedly) hearing it from your "sources"...so, did they say this quarter, or next Luke? Your credibility is straining here... Also, if it so apparent to you (and your sources) that sales are going to be down in 4th Quarter, and you think that MD will not let us know until December......you must be implying that MD & Co either (1) won't know about (the slowdown in future sales) by November 12, and that MD & Co. are, therefore, less competent than you (and your sources)- which is clearly an impossibility (although not in your mind, after all, in one of your alltime stupid comments you did call Alan Greenspan an "idiot".. or (2) MD & Co. know about the problem, and yet they are going to delay telling analysts and the rest of us...subjecting themselves to possible lawsuit, loss of shareholder credibility, etc...for what? Both (1) and (2) will not happen....If there is credibility to your claims, which I hold the odds to be less than 1%,....we will know on November 12. (conference call) Luke, I dont mind when you spout off your poorly thought-out dribble...I do mind when you out-and-out lie....I think you are doing so in this case. And if I'm wrong, I'll be the first to apologize...profusely in fact. If I'm right, I'll be slammin' you unmercilessly... You dont pass the smell test on this one, Luke, I wasnt looking for this....you presented all to us (those who closely follow Dell, all available information, and you)..

Lucretius, I've bitten my tongue to the point that there are permanent indentations, but this last post is too ludicrous even for you. You said: you're pretty funny... please keep the comedy coming. This board will need it when more pain starts very soon. So let me ask you a couple of questions: this pain that you refer to, when exactly does it start? You have repeatedly posted a series of dire warnings since (I believe) the end of last spring or the beginning of the summer. In every case the time frames keep moving. I guess its hard to hit a moving target. You publish no analysis, your sources are totally unreliable (based on their previous track record), and your predictions have thus far been completely wrong. Who are these unnamed sources? Since it is quite obvious that their intelligence was either wrong, or completely unrelated to Dell's sales prospects, why in the world would you continue to put credence in their observations? On the other hand, we have people like Venkie who are close to managers who work for Dell, and who have continued to provide qualitatively reliable (and bullish information on Dell). It seems to me that you have a credibility problem here. Until you can provide some objective and verifiable information to support your warnings I would think that only a fool would heed your advice. TTFN, CTC
