Wily, The problem is that all the lag time at startup has nothing to do with the CPU, but the time that it takes to query all the plug and play device and to query all the non-plug and play devices. You want to fix you boot time. Get rid of your sound crad, nic, etc. Load 98 out of ROM and loose your HD. Store all your data on flash cards. Ofcourse this is exterme, but th emoral of this story is the CPU is hardly the limiting factor today for 90% of all applications. Steve
