Calvary - The 96 and 97 posts that you refer to saying that" Cortex was going to sign a deal for a partner" were just that, posts from people guessing that the partnership was going to take place. The company itself, is now releasing this information directly. Much more plausible.
Cordially,

Not once did CORX announce in any news release or statement that they were "about to sign a big deal any day".

There were SI individuals on this thread that thought that CORX needed to sign with a partner in order to continue advanced stages of testing. It was these people on here that expected one.

But absolutely nothing posted from CORX's news releases on this matter until October 1998.

This is a good sign. Because the CEO could have lifted expectations in the past two years and lie about an imminent deal. But he hasn't in two years until now.

My opinion as to why now is several fold:

CORX does need more money to continue advance testing and enrollment in new studies- and would probably like to test CX691 in people.

CORX has added bargaining power with its new CX691 compound patent.

CORX can say, well you've seen Phase I/IIa testing on a small sample of patients for Scitzophrenia/Alzheimers with CX516 and its pretty impressive.

Now imagine another drug in the same family of AMPAKINES..which has 100 times the potentcy. A longer halflife also means less pills administered to a patient.
