Bill, I hope no one takes my bashing of Fidelity the wrong way, That episode was for real just the other day. I opened my account there oh about '94,. I was a very active OEX trader. Back then it seemed like, all you had to do is pick up the phone. The people at the Spartan desk actually knew who I was. Spartan had a min 20k to open and we expected service. With all this new tech, it has just blown them out of the water. Since then its been all down hill. It's funny, after 8-10 years of being plugged into all this, I feel like I'm pretty much a part of it. And I agree, I don't have time for some smile and dial broker who doesn't have the time, knowledge, or interest for that matter in what I'm doing. When you have to explain to a broker the corresponding letters of a strike price you know it's time to move on :). Please, Any others reading this, I don't consider myself some kind of big time trader. I'm a builder from up north, currently a framing contractor down here in SW Florida with some 30+ guys. About 8-10 years ago I decided to look for something else for my later years. I had always had an interest in the market so I started to "plug in". I've tried all sorts of hardware / software and been a beta site for some of the most popular. Guess I'm kind of a closet computer geek :) Excited ?? In a way ... I keep rolling along with the flow (new systems, setups, software etc. but only as I grow and as the market is willing to pay for it :) Hey, I learned from the old school (good or bad), it's a business. And as such I put tons of night hours in to get started and stay current. (does this note have a time stamp ? :) The advances we've all seen in just the last 5 years : MUCH tighter spreads, computer trading for the masses, Regs that have changed to put the little guys on a level playing field (somewhat), So much more to come too !!, 24 hour world wide trading (eventualy), decimals not fractions, the list goes on. **I want to be part of it.** The rewards (the money ) is quite good (not free by any means :) but more than that I want to be good at anything I do, "the art of it all". So I just keep plugging along and learning as much as I can from the good people on the boards, reading, real experiences and such and give back where I can. Now if I could just learn to be a little more "short" winded !! :) Nite all
