If Gateway does go with the Rage Pro, it is good news for 3dfx in some ways. First, it takes money away from nVidia (and hurts STB and DIMD who invested $3 million each). Second, it means more voodoo2 sales on the high-end consumer machines as the Rage Pro is nowhere near the top in 3D performance. Third, it leaves the door open for Banshee (maybe as an upgrade option until Gateway is convinced that 3dfx and their boardmaker can really support an OEM).

That would suggest that the 60,000 unit sale that was cancelled was TNT, not the older 128 chipset. Can you let me know what the source of your news was?
