Hi enigma,

If my memory serves me correct shorting at these prices requires you to put up 150%. When shorting you always have to put up more then the value of the stock. Unless you are a real good client ;o).

This could possibly be due to the installment receipts. Some may have sold the stock short at $20, bought the IR at $10, and used the remainder for other investments.

Another possible play, at least with other stocks, would be with convertible debentures and preferred shares. (ABX doesn't have these though.)
