This is a little disingenuous. Just because these games support 3DNow doesn't mean they won't run on an Intel machine. In fact, if you have a kick-butt Intel-based PC and a Voodoo2 card - pretty much standard in the gaming community these days- you've got top of the line performance anyway, 3DNow or not. I seriously doubt that 3DNow, however great it is, can be better than having a 3D accelerator card on board.

And pretty much every game coming out has Voodoo2 support, which, in my opinion as an avid gamer, is much more important.

I look at it this way: the fact that these games run on an Intel chip is a given. It's a credit to AMD's marketing and partnering strategy that they got this much support. But it's not that big of a deal and I'd be surprised if it had any effect on Intel sales. Mostly I think it's just a way to make sure current AMD customers aren't pissed off because a hot game doesn't run on their system.

I will agree that 3DNow support this early in the game is quite bullish, but it remains to be seen how much product this will move.

Best,

Badger
