Racman,

I see ASEAN stabilizing with the exception of Japan and I see long term problems there. It's one thing to be on top and fall (Japan & HK), another to be working your way up and having a setback (ASEAN).

I see Russia as a peoples with a security blanket that got taken away from them and those that had given the blanket to them are standing in the wings ready to step in again. It's one thing to stand in line for food, another when there's no line to stand in. The Communists have not given up and the military is not happy that they've lost all the perks they once had. It wouldn't take much to have a militarily aggressive Russia again.

This is my fear and I don't see the US or Europe doing anything positive in a relationship with Russia. They didn't want Clinton "telling them what to do" but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't be working with them to solve their problems. Too much at stake.

JMHO,
Ron
