Everybody is messing this up. The numbers reported by analysts are usually fully taxed numbers. I know for a fact that a few analysts had a $0.16 estimate and it was a fully taxed estimate.

In the POWI conference call, the CEO said they utilized tax loss carry forwards that they previously did not know for sure they could take. The tax rate went down this Q from last Q because of this.

In all, POWI beat estimates by about $0.07 ($0.23 - $0.16 estimate).
The earnings estimate reporting services only use the number the analysts give them. I have never seen them get this right in cases where tax loss carryforwards are used.
