Loral Orion India is a 51:49 joint venture betwen Natelco and the US-based Loral Orion. The later is part of the $1.7 billion Loral Space Systems. ISPs and companies located in the STPs will be the target market fo the Loral Orion India's 'WorldCast' service. The company will market transponder space of the Orion 3 satellite,scheduled for launch in January.... expressindia.com 3)Orissa forges MoU with Microsoft BHUBANESWAR, October 23 : The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) of Orissa has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Microsoft Corporation for technical tieup to develop the software sector and train computer professionals. The highlights of the MoU were a strategic technology partnership involving computerisation of operations of various government departments, setting up of a pool of skilled manpower and giving a fillip to software exports. To this effect, two separate bodies -- Microsoft Development Centre and Microsoft Authorized Technical Education Centre would be set up. 4)Software centre in India from Global Tech US based IT company, Global Technology Partners (GTP) is holding talks with Indian promoters for establishing a software development centre in India. The likely location of the centre will be either Bangalore or Hyderabad. The initial investment in the centre is pegged at Rs 20 lakh and the new company is likely to retain Global Technology as part of its name. 5)DoT releases 30 new line for Net in Karnataka MYSORE, Oct 23: The DoT has released 30 new lines for Internet connections in Mysore in addition to 100 more in Bangalore. The Director of the Software Technology Parks of India in Bangalore, B Venkaiah Naidu, said that the international gateway from Mysore would provide direct access for export-oriented software units in Bangalore to the US and Europe. In Bangalore when the first link gateway was set up in 1992 at a cost of Rs 2.7 crore, and now with a large number of industries using the facility, investment had gone up to Rs 16 crores...expressindia.com
