AJ, you are 100% correct about my investment on TDFX. Didn't learn on that one. Even though I based my investment on fundamentals, and am still long, I should have set a stop, or at least payed attention to what the rest of the world was telling me...ouch. But I believe the future is still bright for TDFX and will remain long until certain events do or do not occur. Regarding EIDSY, I do not count them number 2 to ERTS; I was mentioning a comparison made on NextGen online. A review of the PC Data numbers from '97 showed us to be somewhere around #13 on the PC. Regarding ERTS, they are not number 1 on the PC, that would be CD. ERTS is strong because they have franchise titles and strength in consoles. EIDSY has strenght in consoles and PC. I like that. And we don't compete with ERTS in their strongest points: sims and sports. That is wonderful. Also, our franchise title is a 3d person "shooter", which until now has had little competition. Yes, Heretic2 will be great and is 3d person. BUt it doesn't have the name or history of TR3 or the multiple platform angle. It just isn't blockbuster material, though it will surely be successful. Regarding challenging ERTS, they do not have the kind of Gorilla ability of other tech companies. Their "proprietary technology" is in the realm of franchise titles only. In strategy, the C&C brand has been challenged by Total Anihalation. Madden by Gameday. If you set up a network, and use Cisco equip, you will probably continue to use Cisco equip for compatibility reasons, ease of use, etc. In gaming, gamers only care what is hot at the moment. So you bought Quake, Quake2...if Shogo is hot, you buy it. Unreal? Go for it. Your alliance to Id is non-commital. So the tides can change. ERTS will be number one overall for a while, but there is plenty of room for others here. No MSFT monopoly allowed in gaming...:)
