Regardless of whether the anals are wrong or not, the fact is that they are speculating on the development of the internet - something that many have admitted is a great unkown. At this early stage, for them to extrapolate from the fact that Amazon has captured an early lead in one product category funded by huge deficits to some future scenario in which they turn highly profitable is unprofessional. The conflict of interests between the brokerage establishment's service to the "public" and their personal benefit and that of their corporate and VC clients is scandalous. The government should take some steps to protect the public from these franchised robber barons as they seem unwilling to control their own lusts for the public's money. But that won't happen and the "system" of "hype and steal" will remain in place.
