Thomas,

<< The industry pros are predicting flat growth for the networking sector as a whole through 1999 and not just FC. >>

No offense, Thomas, but when you are talking 'networking' sector, you are covering a heck of a lot of places that WILL be growing STRONGLY next year, regardless of y2k. I don't think any industry pros (outside of Adaptec's deranged ceo ;-) are betting against several key areas. ATM WAN switching for example should experience boom growth in the quarters ahead because of the rapid changes/new network buildout being made by the RBOCs and CLECs. Check ASND's revenues here (core) next Q for growth rate. ;-)
The whole SAN world, which is a new networking PARADIGM and just beginning (ie. see EMCs, QLGCs revenue growth) has absolutely ZERO chance at 'Flat' growth next year regardless of y2k, or moderate global turmoil like we have now. Even bloodied up Ancor has got the Inrange deal that gives them growth and if they sign an oem or two, growth will look even more pretty. ;-)

cheers and all imho,
pigboy
p.s. ice, if the Vikes win the Superbowl, and Ancor gets an oem or two, maybe they can rename their fc switch line-up to the MOSS II and paint it green? ;-)
