I think Novell is trying desperately to get a toe hold against Microsoft who has been cleaning their butt!

Sorry to be so frank but thats the way I see it IMHO!

Novell is desparately trying to gain a foothold and MSFT keeps knocking them off. Currently NDS is available which gives Novell a head start in the Directory wars and LU, by partnering with Novell is attempting to take advantage of this "lead" since they are also playing from weakness when it comes to packet based networks.

So, you have the two weaker players (again, when it comes to multiservice packet based networks - the networks of the future) partnering to take on the two dominant players CSCO and MSFT who have partnered on Active Directory. Once NT5.0 gets out it's going to get very interesting. CISCO's partnership with Msft is critical and in Active Directory is a key component of this partnership. Nuf said.
