Intel licensed a hardware device from Hitachi about 8 or 10 months ago and I think they were working with (now defunct) Zenith as well.

Even for software decoding, there is still a hardware requirement to process the transmitted signal.

Nobody needs a fast processor. The fastest processor that anybody needs is the whatever the top-of-the-line AMD chip has to offer.

I beleive that is is 166 MHz - whoops, it's 200 Mhz - nope, maybe 233 Mhz - uh,oh it's 266 Mhz...Wowie - maybe 300 MHz....
