Yup, got it (3rd ed, copyright 1994), and I noticed the same thing. It always completely amazes me when otherwise bright people fail to grok things. I've come to the conclusion that there are two types of engineers in the world - equation manipulators and those who grok. And only rarely do they come in the same package.

PS BTW, did you ever figure out what mistake he made? The answer is interesting.

(He compares a one cell CDMA system with a one cell TDMA system and says there is no free lunch - you get approximately the same number of users with either technology. Which is, of course, true, for a one cell system. Of course it is completely false for a multicell system, because many of his assumptions go down the toilet. )
