Humble thanks, Gerald, for that article. The bill urges the president to authorize John Koskinen, chairman of the president's Council on the Year 2000 Conversion, to take control of the computer systems of critical agencies if they're not likely to meet the Jan. 1, 2000, deadline. Um, am I the only one wondering exactly what that will accomplish, other than more delays? And how's that supposed to work anyway, will John run the whole US government, or what? Is he in charge of all that new federal cash just budgeted for y2k? Or is he (and the prez) just being set up? Opinions? Cheers, Svejk proofsheet.com
