<<It could be that we just decided to hit something in that country because of them harboring our prime suspects in the past, as an object lesson.>>

"I hope that is supposed to be some sort of joke. That statement represents the most callous, cold hearted indifference I've ever witnessed on this thread."

Well, I don't know. Perhaps the act could be categorized that way, but if my statement is accurate, it is just factual. You can't really discuss this kind of military action without some of the ideas of RealPolitik, because that is the operative philosophy here.

How odd of you.

I wonder if you are some sort of conservative pacifist with a profound nasty streak, brees. A hypercritical do-gooder, or just a hypocrite when the conversation allows you a cheap shot? Just ethnically loyal, even when Americans are being killed by an enemy? (I assume here that you live in the US, but actually you could live in Sudan for all I know.) What exactly is your axe to grind?

I admit that American attitudes toward the Arabs have been callous. As Arab attitudes have been toward many others. We have caused many of our own problems in this situation. This in fact has been going on for 1300 years now.

What does not discussing the motivation for the particular targeting have to do with making that better, though?

Tell me, did you find the embassy bombings callous? How about the disregard for the African civilians who were bound to die in such an explosion? We killed one innocent guard in the bombing in Sudan, they killed hundreds of residents of nearly apartment buildings and passersby on the street. Who is the more callous, the American military, or the Arab operatives who planted the embassy bombs?
