IMO, and probably in yours, when a mother decides to dump a newly born baby in the trash, the state has an obligation to interfere with laws designed to protect the life of that child.

Should the state protect the life of the child in the process of being born, in the last week of gestation, in the last month, etc.? You and I don't have to agree on the answer, but the government can not avoid this decision, IMO.
