TOP 5 Vendors,U.S. Pc Shipments,Q3 -Table format.

Rude:
Well you know the less market share Dell has the more the potential for DELL grow in the future, see you and I look at things differently.<g>

Market share-
19% for DELL? Well no one vendor has 19% market share here in the U.S from what I can tell by looking at the table below ,I don't know who claimed Dell had 19% market share in the U.S,he/she was obviously very wrong.

Observation.
The recent data for Q3 reveals a few things.

1)The PC market is consolidating, lead by the top 5 brands as predicted
by M.D and many others

2)White box makers are losing market share to top dogs.

3)The doom and gloom merchants were wrong as usual.

REF:Internet and Europe:
Our pals in Europe are a bit slow catching up with the U.S,for one thing the cost of an internet connection is much higher there than here but things are changing as we speak in many countries. They also lags behind in E-Commerce but growth is supposed to explode in the years ahead according many reports published on the subject many of which were posted here on the thread.

Rude- A couple comments:

Concerning Dell and Europe- I havent looked at the historical numbers to know if your premise is true (that Dell is not gaining market share as fast in Europe as the U.S.)...but if you are right, my guess would be that (the cause is that) Europeans are generally more conservative in their purchasing patterns, less switch-back takes place..Relationships are harder to dislodge.......HP and IBM have had a huge presence (and good reputation) for quite a while in Europe....it simply takes longer to get a customer to switch out of an existing relationship, even if there are better alternatives..

Also, the existence of national champions....and the preference towards low-priced machines (Germany) may play a role...

Just my guess.
