New business products division announces 1st product: "Counterfeit Cop"

biz.yahoo.com

Interesting, eh? A $99.50 product with an estimated market of 500,000 units the first year. And a million units per year thereafter.

Pretty impressive!

Uh ... the following statement worries me a bit, though ...

"ConSyGen's ''Counterfeit Cop'' was designed after a thorough analysis of the world's existing competitive equipment ..."

So, there is already some competition. They don't have the market to themselves. Wouldn't it be nice to know who the competitors are and what their offerings are? And, what's going to keep the "Cop" leading the pack? It would seem there are only so many things a device can do to detect counterfeit "stuff". Certainly the competitors haven't been sitting on their haunches while CSGI comes in and steals their market.

Also, if we knew who the competitors were, perhaps we could get a feel for how their products are doing in the market. So we can guess for ourselves whether 500,000 units during the first year is a reasonable estimate.

How many retail organizations are going to buy just one of these units at the retail price of $99.50? I suppose you'd want to have one for each cash register. Certainly there are "volume discounts" available.

Any other thoughts, anyone?

Note to "tech", who is probably reading this ... they finally came out with something that isn't "fully automated" ... whee !!!
