"Crybaby" post - Well, since the infrastructure announcement this morning is excellent news, and quite significant ... therefore QCOM is down in an up market.

Jon.

Gregg,

Yes, this contract is big in term of QCOM's entry to be a prime infrastructure supplier.

Plus, Qcom's Omnitrac business is always on the "data" side. Now we also see its entry to focus itself on a full "data" service provider. There are unlimited opportunities on "data" side.

Brian H.

PS. Ramsey, it is still very consistent so far on QCOM's good press releases prior to its earning report. Good catch on QCOM's up trend. Hope this time you stay longer and cancel your vacation trip.

Gregg I agree this is a very important win for QUALCOMM and all of as QUALCOMM investors.Understanding the ramifications of QUALCOMM's infrastructure order from U.S. west may not be apparent to Wall Street immediately . The size of the order at fifty million may appear insignificant in the face of the large orders that have come from the Baby Bells in the past to other wireless venders.QUALCOMM has definitely scored a milestone in winning this bid from US West. Wall Street seems to anticipate a worldwide slowdown in capital expenditures from CDMA network operators due in part and to the slowdown of global economic development The bidding has become extremely competitive for making it difficult for wireless and vendors to obtain contracts. QUALCOMM in breaking the barrier with this US operator may represent a new era for infrastructure, being viewed by the industry as the next great big build out, as the data side of the infrastructure becomes more important in the future.QUALCOMM could be a force to be reckoned with in the near future ,as they are agile at their size, and are mastering the manufacturing it takes to become a blue chip company . QUALCOMM reportedly is producing six hundred thousand handsets month leaving them very well-positioned in 1999 in the category of handset production.Hopefully QUALCOMM can generate more infrastructure order inflow based on their expertise of data as well as in voice. infrastructure order is definitely the key in QUALCOMM becoming extremely successful and profitable. No doubt this is what the European companies fear of the most when it comes to third-generation advancements, the possibility of losing and significant infrastructure orders to companies that are expert in proprietary technology as QUALCOMM is King of CDMA .
