XLNT Achieves Highest-Density Gigabit Ethernet Switching with Blazing New ASIC

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 26, 1998--

The New Millennium 4000+TM Delivers Scalable Gigabit Switching to

Enterprise Networks with LSI Logic's GigaBlazeTM Technology at

the Core

XLNT Inc., a leading manufacturer of high-performance networking solutions, announced the culmination of a year long effort to push Gigabit Ethernet density to the next level.

Designed in conjunction with system on a chip leader LSI Logic Corp. (NYSE: LSI), XLNT has integrated multiple Gigabit Ethernet MACs and PHYs into a single, one-inch chip that supports the highest Gigabit Ethernet port density available. The new Gigabit Ethernet ASIC allows XLNT's Millennium 4000 Gigabit Ethernet switch to support up to 36 Gigabit Ethernet ports in a 10.5 inch chassis.

"An essential factor in the success of the Millennium product line has been its ability to scale with the growing needs of our customers," said Roger Moyers, vice president of product development. "The new chip designed and built by LSI Logic, allows XLNT to deliver gigabit switching and routing functions at more than double the density of our competitors. This is the perfect solution for organizations connecting servers on Gigabit Ethernet."

XLNT's unique 4Gbps Layer 3 Plus Look-up Engine combined with the quad Gigabit Ethernet ASIC results in the industry's highest density Layer 3 switch. Each Gigabit ASIC is driven by LSI Logic's GigaBlaze technology, the industry's fastest CMOS serial transceiver core. The GigaBlaze core operates at speeds up to 1.25Gbps, meeting XLNT's high-bandwidth requirements.

According to Roger Moyers, "LSI Logic's advanced capabilities provided exactly what XLNT needed in order to create the core building block for our high-density gigabit switching platform."

Well, after Mr. Jubak issued his "sell" signal, LSI rallies as if one cue, and gains 33% in about 15 days!

So much for the so-called analysts. Even fortune-tellers would do better than these fellas...
