HB, I actually liked a couple of Buckley's early novels, especially "See You Later Alligator." Unfortunately, he won all kinds of awards for "Stained Glass," which was the most boring thing he's ever written. And he does belong to the "ha, ha, I know a big word and you don't" camp. But I do agree that you shouldn't stop using a perfectly good word just because most people don't know what it means. The interview he had with Spiro Agnew, also a big word user, was the funniest and most incomprehensible I've ever seen.

I will look up Krugman's stuff.
