The other side of the coin....

I recently posted information about NT being used with success at NASDAQ.

Here is an excellent link describing why UNIX is the better choice. You don't need to be a software professional to understand it, but it is quite good and anyone who does work in the field will probably want to bookmark it. I kid you not -- it's very good.

Michelle,

Sounds like Oracle is not seeing much transition of it's Apps installed base to alternative vendors. I'm not sure that it ever was (re from one of your recent posts: "Oracle was losing its large apps installed base when companies felt they needed the latest and greatest ERP."). Oracle may have been losing Apps deals, but I wasn't aware of much, if any, migration of it's installed base to other vendors.

My belief remains that, while Oracle was not competing up to it's earlier levels of success, it was not out of the Apps game at all. I think that the next two quarters will provide results on the Apps side that demonstrate a strengthened position. I'm not discounting the likes of SAP, Peoplesoft, etc.; I simply believe that Oracle is going to start showing that it is doing a better job.

I think that we may see significant dips in the stock price between now and the end of the year. However, those will be buying opportunities in my mind; I expect the stock to do nicely from mid December on.

Simply my viewpoint,

Jesse
