I Couldn't resist picking up a couple of hundred last
Friday, but now I'm thinking about getting more serious.
As I see it:

1 ASPT made the 3q numbers (barely) pre-charge
off 1 penny (4%) after charge
2 Has forward P/E now of about 10 on consensus estimates
3 Looks to grow about 30% 98 to 99 instead of 40%
4 Downgraded from "strong buy" to "buy" (I guess there's
no such thing as a "weak buy" :)
5 Thinks they'll grow big in Asia despite recession
6 Analyst fears effect of "economic slowdown" (when the hell
*haven't* analysts feared this ???)
7 Have been accused of channel stuffing when > 80% of
sales are direct.
8 History of being premier supplier in CTI call center
9 New partnerships etc. etc.
10 Trades at 34% of recent 52 week high. (Winning an honorable mention in the 1998 falling knife contest
... way behind CIEN et al)

What is wrong with this picture? There seems to be a little more
insider sales than I would like to see, but it doesn't look organized or concerted at all and I can't find any other
negatives.

I held a few shares of ASPT from Aug 97 through July 98
and recall that it seemed a little volatile as if noone could
quite convince themselves that it was an OK Company.
Is ASPT just being punished for only growing 11% in 98 or is there some invisible bogey man that we just aren't smart enough to see here?
