To all: Would you pray for my Dad? Admitted today to the hospital with chest pains. He had a bypass about 4 years ago. EKG showed some damage to one side of the heart. Doctors think one of the bypasses may be clogged again. I love my Dad and would like to keep him around a while longer, Lord willing. Thanks. Tippet

Apparently the ONLY non-Jesus Freak remnant adult human on earth who has found the joy of the human voice on his own (led by the Lord Himself) is Robear, a wonderful brother who has not been around for awhile. Probably, like many people, he found the net a vast consumer of time like the Coneheads and Pepsi. That's what it reminds me of. He worked graveyard with some other bored and miserable Christians and out of distress, I guess, they ended up singing together some of the the old hymns. He found the experience remarkable. Well.....I will have to wish him good luck on finding that outside of a miserable graveyard shift experience where the Christian entertainers had not established all of their worldly Aspiring Musician equipment "to give to the Lord....." Yeah. Well, I believe the jury is mostly still out on who actually inspired all of this. My theory is it was never the Lord that inspired it. We shall see by the fruit, I guess. If you will notice, many of the "praise band" members in the more rowdy and off the wall charis-crazy churches still smoke. I wondered why three of them bolted out the door after pounding all worship out of the building with their rock concert equipment and so I kind of tippy toed behind them, and the rush was to grab a cigarette before walking into the sermon area like conquering heroes. This was only one such place I actually saw it, but and I also saw a swaying, carnal lead singer at a screaming Foursquare growing church--REALLY GROWING--also race out for a ciggy-boo. Don't get me going here. It's not a good idea. I believe much of the motivation is to end up with a nice lucrative christian music record contract, if the word just gets around there is a really HOT band. BUT. Is the House of God intended to be Star Search? That's the question I have askjed myself since l983, and the only answer I can come up with is, "Apparently." It seems to be where the bands audition for larger things much the way the little nightclubs start out the more famous in the world. Rod Parsley's church started this on a nationaL level in about l989, I think. That from his exposure on TBN. I know it swept the country like a plague of locust, as all pastors wanted a huge house full of screaming people like Rod Parsley had. You will all suffer from this, and I believe everyone already suffers much. You all have your reward, and it is unneeded and unwanted carnal music blasted and camoflagued by throwing in Jesus' name. A lot of the pop super-love, carnal activity inspiring human music actually is a little more holy in melody than a lot of the music the praise bands are churning out. Some of it is just BAD and BORING. Repeated endlessly by people who only know a few songs, and who refuse to allow an old hymn into the building BECAUSE THE OLD TRUE REVIVAL AND WORSHIP HYMNS DON'T NEED ANYBODY UP THERE PLAYING ANYTHING. Ergo, the musicians can loss the hold they have as being the ones necessary to get people to open their mouths. And God Forbid they find out the people enjoy singing together what THEY want to sing rather than listening to the practiced praise routines. Ergo, hymns which almost changed the face of America in l906 and the very same ones again in l968 on, til their death to rock and roll, are termed "things the kids don't like, and we need to be relevant to the times." (This quote is of course attributed always to the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ speaking through the pastor). Well, that's interesting, since the kids used to want to sing hymns until ll:00 p.m. for about 6 years when the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ was in control and given control by all involved. And of course that included the most holy and most annointed beautiful choruses that would spring up, one by one, for hours. Find an old now underground Maranatha Church tape from the 70s out of Portland. Then tell me what you think. O.K. Go with it and I'll just watch where the country and the "Audience" goes along with it. I saw the fruit of the Holy Spirit in the 70s and I see the fruit of the Praise Rock concerts of the 80 and 90s. I wonder how God weighs them. Remember, our Jimmy boy was first and foremost an entertaining singer, allowed and forgiven unspeakable and horrendous excesses BECAUSE HE WAS SUCH A GOOD SINGER, PERIOD. Kind of like O.J. and his ability to run down a strech of grass holding a bag of leather filled with air. Who cares what he did, he used to be a football star. These are statements of reality which may not be popular. I look forward to hearing the Lord's view from His own mouth on these matters. After 15 or more years of analysis with prayer, and first hand examination of what was and what now is, I would say the church is being ushered into satan's hands and the church will not be able to quite see the difference. Without the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ there is no ability to discern. If you believe this music which is presented as "worship", and the drowning out of the human voice to instruments which came primarily from jungle music from Africa, through the Caribbean, is bringing you into the Living Presence of the Living God, then everyone who feels that way will be alright. Apparently you are ALL doubting what is going on. That's interesting.
