Mark...more on SAN and NAS later when I get a chance to assemble some fresh links.

Z...Exabyte looks interesting with tax loss selling nearly over and the traditional rising tide created by the first quarter inflow of pension money....will look more into it...no rush, I think ...everything depends on Mammoth 2 - mid to late 1999. History has shown that because tape speed is decoupled from transfer rates, it is generally easier to make a helical scan drive go faster than a linear tape drive.

Also, last year I had an interesting discussion on the SEG board with a disk drive engineer who explained the advantages of smaller disks and "short stroking." Can't a remember a damn thing about that discussion, though.
