Chris,

<<unholy speculation, employed, not in examining the evidences of Christianity, but in detecting the vices and imperfections of confessing Christians.>>

So in this man's words, it is unholy to think about religion from the aspect of disproving it, and one can only be holy if he only thinks of ways to prove it?

Doesnt that type of thought give you pause? From the standpoint of a christian, wouldnt it be a sin to NOT use the powers of reason and questioning thought, which are gifts from god? doesnt Free will mean anything?

It strikes me as someone very unsure of their philosophy, if they would try to speak out against anyone questioning it. Real truth should shine best when subjected to the light of honest question and rational discourse. If you never illuminate the dark corners, you never fully shed light on the entire truth.

I am not sayuing this as anything against chrisitianity. god knows that type of intolerant thought process is prevalent in all religions.
I am just saying this to show how this ones persons philosophy may be viewed by others......

Mark

Ah, but you see Chrisland, this old man has examined the credulity of Christianity and found it wanting for evidence. I have been on the death bed and future abode was as sure as it is today. Because some idiot of the 17th century made the death bed confession just prove one thing. He really hadn't found the answers.

The people here on this thread think they know the bible and constantly give their interpretation. Of course the reason it is half believable is also based on the theory that with God all things are possible. It does contain some good morality lessons. It also provides the preteen access to the most lustful, lascivious stories of rape and murder and God rewarding men who are involved. Armed might and pussy power rule the immoral people who are favored by God. Women and children are the rewards for killing and conquering that God blesses and commands.

So you see in the two centuries men have studied the bible it still provides answers based on faith not knowledge. If you will read what Einstein had to say about God you would know what a deist true belief is.
