I went to Biketolberfest. I took the time to stop buy Carls Speedshop and talk to the AMQC reps. The latest version of the Liberty is sweet. Nice Bike.

I happened to drive up when someone was running a Quantum (I'm pretty sure it was a Quantum) up on the dynamometer. WOW! The bike I saw was running uncapped (loud). Serious HP.

Here's the deal. I spent some time talking to a salesrep and a tech rep. They had a demo of the Dealernet software running. Impressive. Good. Pick and choose your bike online w/interactive software. The salesrep said that there had been a good response to their presence and that there seemed to be a lot of interest.

I went to the other end of the showroom where an independant rep from St Pete had Ser# 01 of the Q2 on display. I asked him some questions about his experience with Quantum. He said that he felt that Quantum was as good a bike as any other out there. That compared to the Titan ,you would be buying (for less money) a bike as good as any. I asked if he has had any problems with Quantum concerning warranty, service and such. His response was an anecdote about a customer from Jacksonville that bought a Q2.

He said that the paint started to peal on the tank. They got in touch with the factory, the factory sent a NEW tank for the customer to use while his tank was refinished. Good customer service.

My only reservation came when I talked to a rep at a bike parts shop on Main St in Daytona. I asked " ..so what do you think of the American Quantum?" His response was "which version? this week? or last week?". He said he was waiting for the full production model to commit.

AMQC needs several things to move. They need Name recognition other than the cursory "oh yeah, they make 4 valve heads ..don't they?". But most of all they need a slick hard pounding advertising campaign. They must have a solid driving (pun intended) focus with the intent being that "since you can't get a new Harley without a 6 month wait you can have something better NOW".

Their time is now.
