James, Actually I work near ascend in westford. Ascend moved out of the old cascade building, and moved to a technology complex near the "Old Bucket" restaurant. There is NO ground breaking of any sort. On the other hand it is LUcent that is building a big facility in marlboro where the people from agile, prominet are moving into. Lu has a networking operation in boxboro. Marlboro is about 15 miles from westford. Note: LU's big complex is hiring like crazy. If LU picks up Ascend the new headquarters will definitely be in marlboro. LU has another facility in Andover mass.... There is no ground breaking of any sort in the ascend complex... Regards, immi

all: any ideas?... I am trying to 'guess' a time span as to when ascend will be aquired. My guess is by end of november?. Any opinions?. I came to this conclusion by giving the investment bankers 2 months to work things out if at all there is some activity on LU's part. At that point I plan to lighten up on Ascend, and basically get rid of LU. In my opinion if LU is not nimble enough to realize the "time to market" pressures of the market place, then "the old circuit switched world is not for me". I give LU's management the benifit of the doubt. Every, moment they loose they are loosing a foothold to CISCO & Ascend... Why will I lighten up on ascend?. Well I plan to keep some of ascend, but reinvest what I take out of LU & ascend into other issues. Over the period of 1 1/2 year Ascend's stock price is basically flat. I got in in May 1997 at 42 and change. My greatest fear is that as soon as I sell, LU takes over ascend!!!. Any opinions as to how long I should wait?. Regards, Immi
