Mitsubishi Electric PC Division Opens US Office
Appoints General Manager and Director of Sales

SPANISH FORK, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 26, 1998--Mitsubishi Electric PC Division has established a firm foothold in the US market with the opening of its US office, based in Utah, and the appointment of a US general manager and director of sales.

Initially, Mitsubishi Electric PC Division USA will focus on promoting the company's market-leading range of motherboard products. In the future, this will expand to cover other products and services including PCs, Internet services and software solutions.

''As Mitsubishi Electric PC Division begins its global expansion, the US is a primary market for us,'' said Peter Horne, president of Mitsubishi Electric PC Division. ''For this reason, we have established a US team that has an excellent understanding of this market and is well-poised to aggressively address opportunities therein.''

Richard Christiansen, general manager of Mitsubishi Electric PC Division USA, has overall responsibility for US marketing and operations. Allen Logue, director of sales, will handle all customer relationships.

''Mitsubishi's motherboards provide tremendous and differentiable product advantages for the US market, including high quality and a long, stable life cycle,'' said Christiansen. ''What's more, Mitsubishi Electric is one of the few companies still manufacturing its own motherboard products, which facilitates problem solving and customization, and allows us to deliver a higher level of service.''

Mitsubishi Electric PC Division is targeting the first- and second-tier PC assembly market and market segments requiring high-availability products. These include coin-operated gaming machines, kiosks, medical equipment, point-of-sale terminals, industrial applications and automated teller machine products.

The company recently announced the world's first dual Pentium II NLX motherboard. Targeted at the volume PC assembly, imaging, gaming and simulator markets, the TC440 NLX motherboard offers high performance at low cost.

The company's US office is supported by a design team that has over 15 years experience designing and building PC motherboards. The product range comprises motherboards based on ATX, Micro ATX, NLX and LPX form factors, all incorporating the latest PC chipset technology.

Christiansen was appointed general manager of Mitsubishi Electric PC Division USA in April 1998. Prior to that, he was director of technical market development for the company. Before joining Mitsubishi Electric, Christiansen was the product line manager for Novell Directory Services at Novell Inc. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Engineering from Brigham Young University.

Prior to his appointment with Mitsubishi Electric, Logue was a senior marketing manager at Iomega responsible for enterprise and vertical market development. Logue holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University in Business Administration.

Mitsubishi Electric is one of the world's leading IT product and services suppliers. The company manufactures a range of mobile computers, PCs and servers; operates as an Internet access and services provider; and provides a portfolio of software solutions for businesses. Mitsubishi Electric Corp. is one of the world's largest companies with revenues for the year ending 31 March 1998 of 3.8 trillion yen.

Hi E good to see you back on this thread! Looks like there may be some short term action in IOM for a change. What do your charts say? Any chance for getting up to 7 or so in the next few weeks? I like their choice for CEO. Now if they will only give him free reign to effect a real turn-around there might be a chance for this company. How has the market been treating you?

Best regards, Mel
