IBM stock options are generally not part of the employee package.
Options for employees are restricted to special situations such as
your example of a technical person with some special, unique skill.
I know some people who are employees who do get options. I also
know some executives who dont. Long time Directors who are going
nowhere. Yes, it is used at the employee level more than ever but
ever used to be never so it is a minor step up.
